Home bombed dozens injured as Israeli forces crackdown on Jenin

Occupied Jerusalem: At least 18 Palestinians were injured by live ammunition while home of a suspected Hamas member was bombed and set ablaze by the Israeli army during a raid on Jenin refugee camp early morning Sunday according to medical and security sources.

At about 5:00 AM an Israeli army force broke into Jenin refugee camp and searched for the house of Qais Saadi 24 a member of the Islamic Hamas movement who is listed as wanted by Israel.

Saadi was not present at his residence when the Israeli force demanded him to surrender. The army then bombed the house with rocket-propelled grenades setting it ablaze. Two Palestinians including Saadi's brother Mohammad were detained in the aftermath.

As the army demolished Saadi's house hundreds of local Palestinian youths rushed to the scene to express their anger at the assault. The army used live ammunition and rubber-coated bullets towards the youths to disperse them leaving at least 18 injuries including two serious cases.

The wounded were transferred to nearby Jenin public hospital for medical treatment while the two other serious cases were transferred to Rafidia hospital in Nablus.

This came as tensions reached high levels across the West Bank and Jerusalem in the aftermath of the Israeli offensive in al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem last week.

Two Israeli settlers were last night killed in a stabbing incident carried out by a Palestinian in Jerusalem which was followed with a violent response from Israeli settlers who lashed out against innocent Palestinians in many villages across the West Bank.
