Migrant eagle birds monitored in Kuwait

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Two thousand migrant eagle birds have been monitored in east Jahra reserve, with around 250-300 species of the eagles spotted flying over the protected region daily, Kuwait Environment Protection Society said on Monday.
The birds arrived in Kuwait during their migration from the North to the South, KEPS head of the monitoring team Mahmoud Shahab told KUNA, adding the team annually monitors the birds' migration, estimating their numbers and determining their species. Studies on such basis are reviewed annually.
Shahab said the first flock of eagles of around 250-300 birds was seen in east Al-Jahra reserve, noting that the eagles pass through the region and temporarily settle, seeking water before they continue their journey.
KEPS official noted that this year, the first wave of eagles was registered last September 25th in the desert, adding the eagles' species varied and they numbered about 300-400.
Eagles, rare prey birds of more than 61 species, mostly live in Eurasia, the United States and Canada.
