Oman- MSM30 holds water amid weak activity

The benchmark MSM30 index started the new week on a positive note closing Sunday's session up 0.20 per cent at 5802.51 on support from Services and Financial indexes.

The Services gauge closed up 0.29 per cent at 3236.47 while the Financial index added 0.14 per cent at 6923.35. The Industrial sub-index however closed flat at 7307.29.

The MSM Shariah index closed down 0.09 per cent at 903.50.

Nearly 7.3mn securities were traded on the bourse which generated a turnover of RO2.03mn with both metrics dropping nearly 100 per cent from the previous session. Market breadth was positive as 12 stocks gained against just four laggards while 17 securities remained unchanged.

Ominvest accounted for 37.22 per cent of the total turnover.

Al Anwar Holding (+2.33 per cent) Oman Investment and Finance (+1.82 per cent) and alizz islamic bank (+1.49 per cent) were among the top gainers on the Muscat bourse whereas Al Sharqia Investment Holding (-1.85 per cent) and Gulf Investment Services (-1.02 per cent) were the top laggards for the day.
