UAE- Unwind and treat your senses with great food

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) How do you like to unwind on a balmy afternoon? Be outdoors, perched somewhere near the sea enjoying a hearty meal? Or probably sip on a creamy cappuccino and revel in scenic views of the waterfront? That's exactly what we did recently. With the weather becoming pleasant, we decided to check out a relatively new restaurant Cherrie Blossom, tucked in the corner of the Jumeirah Fishing Harbour. The experience was thoroughly rewarding, to say the least. The food was delicious seasoned with warm hospitality and views of the blue sea in the front.

Cherrie Blossom serves Thai, Chinese and International cuisine and has an interesting mix of choices for both vegetarians like me and non-vegetarians like my better half. On a Saturday afternoon, we had the option of ordering either the set menu, which comprised of a three-course meal starting with the restaurant's signature dish, Tom Yum soup, followed by main course, dessert and a drink, or à la carte.

The restaurant has varied seating options: dine outside with views of a yacht port and expansive sea, settle indoors on the ground and first floor, or enjoy a cosy corner on the terrace. Wherever you choose, you are sure to face the sea and soak up a serene environment.

We chose to sit outside. The weather was perfect and the view was tranquil. Even though the compound bustled with tourists and families, who were either waiting for their ride to the world islands from Pier 4 or just dining, serenity pervaded the atmosphere. So much so that even my seven-month-old was sitting calmly in his pram and soaking up the scene (quite unusual for a chirpy fella).

To start off, we ordered a matcha-style green ice tea and freshly squeezed orange juice followed by Crispy Morning Glory and T-Rose (vegetable dumplings). We loved the crispiness of the tempura (thinly coated and fried just right). It was accompanied with spicy-sour dressing of prawns, ground peanuts and roasted coconut flakes. The vegetable dumplings were good; you could tell by the texture, not too thick, delicate, and paired well with homemade sauce.

In the main course, we had vegetables in green curry, and Chicken in Penang Curry with sticky rice. I particularly loved the combination of mild spicy and sweet green curry that flirted with my palate and was delectable in every bite. I was full but couldn't resist polishing off the plate. Chicken was delicious too and highly recommended.

Of course, after such a wholesome meal, you would want to relax either with a book or tea under the sun. We chose to check out the first floor and terrace. There is a dining area, a fun zone where you can play Chinese board games, chess, play guitar, read up a magazine or book stacked in the end of the room, or explore distant views through a telescope. We picked a seat outside and sipped on Chinese green tea, admiring the expansive view of the blue sea and the sunset.

It was an afternoon well spent with loved ones over good food and warm hospitality.

The restaurant delivers food and caters to large orders too. It can accommodate up to 80 people and is apt for hosting parties. For more information, call 04-3448895, or visit Cherrie Blossom Restaurant at Jumierah 1, Fishing Harbour near Mercato Mall, Beach Road.
