Hair transplant: Get set to flaunt your tresses

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The new Automated-X Hair Transplant technique introduced in the Middle East by Spectronix is covering balding heads with lush natural-looking hair

Hair loss is a common problem among men and women, where about 70 per cent of men are prone to the condition with baldness affecting around 40 per cent of the gender.

There are a number of drug treatments, but are not as effective as they give short-term results. Hair transplant is now popular as a trustworthy alternative, according to cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr Bijal Parikh. Excerpts from an interview with dxbuzz:

What is the Automated-X hair transplant tech?
Suction Assisted Follicle Extraction and Re-implantation (SAFER) is among the latest techniques in hair transplant. It is less invasive than the traditional strip method that requires cutting up the scalp as part of the treatment.

With the Automated-X Hair Transplant technology, there is no suturing, visible scarring, no risk of nerve injury and almost immediate recovery over the short period of time.

The method removes individual hair follicles from the scalp using a special robot. These follicles, which occur in natural groupings of about one to four hair strands, are then planted into the balding region. The end result is a complete natural look.

How does Automated-X method compare to traditional techniques?
The Automated-X technique is best suited for all kinds of patients, unlike the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), which tends to be time-consuming, costly and requires additional training to perform.

What are the advantages of using an automated device?
Automated-X Hair Transplant uses controlled pneumatic pressure to slide the follicle out smoothly. The entire procedure is fast with the Automated-X Hair Transplant Robot and follicles can be re-implanted quickly, thus increasing the success of the grafting process.

Is the procedure painful?
There is virtually no pain during an Automated-X Hair Transplant procedure performed under local anaesthesia. There may be mild discomfort when the anaesthesia is injected into the scalp, but once properly anaesthesised, there is no pain. Patients may also feel minimal discomfort after the procedure, but can easily be treated with prescribed medicines.

Are there any potential complications?
The Automated-X Hair Transplant process is considered a minor procedure in the medical world. There are rarely any complications and if any, doctors are fully equipped with solutions.

Tell us about the recovery process.
This technique allows the patient to resume work in the next day or two. The hair looks so natural that the only ones who'd know about the transplant are the ones you tell.
