Donors urged to extend more to Jordan to finance refugee crisis cost

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, discussed with representatives of donor countries and United Nations organizations a Jordanian national response plan to address the Syrian refugees crisis.

The meeting sought to support joint efforts to coordinate assistance delivery and help mitigate the impact of the Syrian refugees crisis on Jordan through financing projects included the Jordan 2015 Response Plan.

The minister said the Syrian crisis, which is in its fifth year now, may continue for at least ten years, adding that the international community is required to shoulder bigger part of this massive burden currently being borne by host countries.

He stressed that the Jordanian response plan is the only right frame to handle the repercussions of the crisis since it combines humanitarian needs of the refugees with the needs of host countries.

The meeting was hosted by the British Embassy in Amman in coordination with the United Nations.
