Kuwaiti shooters grab 3 more medals at Arab championship


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Kuwaiti shooters have won two gold medals and one silver at the skeet competitions of the 12th Arab Shooting Championship here on Saturday, thus taking the country's tally to eight medals.
Saud Habib won gold after his tally exceeded that of his compatriot Zayd Al-Mutairi by one disc in the final game of the men singles' competition while Azmy Mehilya, of Egypt, came third and got the bronze medal.
The Kuwaiti three-strong squad won the gold medal of the teams' competitions with a total tally of 368 discs; it's made up of Al-Mutairi who won the silver medal, Abdulaziz Al-Saad and Saud Habib.
The Egyptian team came second with a 364-disc score while the UAE team came third with a tally of 355 discs.
In the semifinal Al-Mutairi got the first place after scoring the full mark and hitting the 15 discs as his five compatriots, who were also able to proceed to the semifinal, scored 13 discs and had to go through playoffs; Habib qualified to the final and had to face Al-Mutairi.
Today's results put Kuwait at the first place with eight medals, including three golds, four silver and one bronze.
The championship, held at Club Filin, is to come to a close on Sunday.
