Kuwait- Government prioritizes combat against corruption - Min


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh said Wednesday night that the government attaches great importance to the combat against corruption and the efforts to maintain the rule of law.
Commenting on claims of corruption at some cooperative societies, Al-Sabeeh, also Minister of State for Planning and Development Affairs, said the board members of these societies were referred to the Public Prosecution for investigations.
She made the press remarks at the Embassy of Armenia where she attended a ceremony to mark the country's National Day.
The minister affirmed that there is a strong evidence for foul-play in the charges based on the results of the probes which entered their final stage "as per specific legal proceedings." She ruled out any pressures on her campaign against the so-called hoax companies and marginal labor, saying: "Such reports are totally groundless and we are determined to continue our mission thoroughly." "The Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Interior maintain close cooperation which led yesterday to the closure of two hoax companies with a total of 300 irregular workers.
"The law-enforcers are taking the necessary legal measures against the owners of these two companies to verify that they will not open similar firms in the future," Al-Sabeeh revealed.
Regarding the Kuwaiti-Armenian ties, she said the two countries maintained friendly ties and growing cooperation in various fields, including the social afairs. "Kuwait donated to the launching of a retirement home for the elderly people in Armenia which will open soon," she said, adding that the senior-level visit exchanges help strengthen the bilateral ties in all domains.
