Malaysian Shell to let go 1,300 workers


(MENAFN) Royal Dutch Shell, the Oil and gas to corporation intends to lay off 1,300 employees from its Malaysian subdivision over the next two years.

Shell Malaysia, which is about to celebrate its 125th year in Malaysia and has overall workers of 6,500, will initiate the job cuts to become more competitive.

The firm runs upstream operations consisting of a deep-water oil field venture in the state of Sabah and Sarawak, plus downstream operations.

"We are strengthening our organization by prioritizing productivity and efficiency, without compromising on safety and reliability," said the company's chairman.
