(MENAFN) Only a year after starting operations in Turkey, US ride-sharing giant Uber has initiated a boat service across the nation carrying people from Europe to Asia with UberBOAT.
This innovative project came as a welcomed solution for the heavy traffic experienced on a daily basis by drivers in Istanbul, Turkey's largest city with a population of around 15 million.
On a worldwide scale, commuters in Istanbul face the worst traffic congestion overall, ahead of Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro, according to data released from TomTom, the respected navigation systems maker.
UberBOAT will function over a smartphone application, users will locate the nearest boat, and when the captain calls to check availability, the boat arrives and the journey then will start.
