UAE elected chair of Arab Union for Voluntary Work

DUBAI 29th September 2015 (WAM) --- Sahar Al Obed Chair of the Arab Union for Voluntary Work (AUVW) has become chair of the Arab Federation for Voluntary Activities for its fourth session covering the period covering the period 2015-2019.

Al Obed is the only woman at the Arab body since the start of its second session in 2007.

She was chosen for the post at the AUVW's general assembly.

Al Obed described the UAE's win as a new addition to the country's international stature.

She dedicated the win to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Chairwoman of the General Women's Union GWU Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation FDF and Head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Representatives of 15 Arab countries the Arab League and the African and Arab Youth Council elected Hisham Al Reeda of Sudan and Ahmed Al Murshid of Kuwait were elected deputies of union's chairperson and Yousuf Al Kazem of Qatar Secretary-General of the union They also elected 11 members to the union's executive bureau including five regional coordinators.
