New York: GCC states have expressed their sincere condolences and deep sympathy and solidarity with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and families of victims of the stampede at the holy site of Mina.

In a press release issued after Sunday's coordinative meeting under the presidency of HE Foreign Minister Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah GCC's ministerial council praised the huge efforts of Saudi Arabia in serving pilgrims and providing all kinds of facilitations so that they would carry out hajj in an easy and safe manner. The council also pointed to the Saudi monarch's orders to establish a supreme investigation committee to probe the incident.

Meanwhile the council stressed in a statement GCC states' keenness on continuing all sorts of support for displaced Syrians and Syrian refugees urging the international society to shoulder its responsibility towards them.

The statement added that GCC states have received 2.8 million Syrians since the outbreak of the crisis in Syria and didn't treat them as refugees but rather amended their legal statuses so that they can freely move. They were also allowed to benefit from free healthcare and join the workforce and their children were allowed to enroll in free public schools and university places were allocated for them. GCC states also allowed Syrian expats to bring their families from Syria and refugee camps.

The ministerial council called on the international society to shoulder its responsibility in providing aids for Syrian refugees outside Syria and displaced Syrians inside the country. QNA
