Qatar committed to invest USD35b in US over 5 years


(MENAFN) Qatar's sovereign wealth fund said that the country is planning to invest a total of USD35 billion over the next five years in the United States as part of its plan to expand its global stake.

The Qatar Investment Authority "will enable QIA to develop and expand its global investment portfolio, with Qatar having committed to investing USD35 billion in the US over the next five years."

QIA said it "remains committed to its investments in Europe, Asia and the Middle East," while the New York office "facilitates access to significant investment opportunities."

Qatar's portfolio is currently valued between USD256 billion and USD334 billion and includes significant stake in British supermarket chain Sainsbury's and the London Stock Exchange.
