Egypt's tourist arrivals up 8.2 percent to 4.8m in H1


(MENAFN) According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), tourist arrivals to Egypt in the January-June period of 2015 rose by 8.2 percent to 4.8 million tourists.

The latest figures are up from the 4.4 million visitors who came to Egypt during the same period in 2014. In 2014, the total number of tourists recorded 9.9 million, and 9.5 million in 2013.

Last year, the number of tourists from Eastern Europe accounted for 45.1 percent of the total visitors, with Russia contributing 70.4 percent of the total number of tourists from the region.

Meanwhile, visitors from Western Europe represented a share of 31.6 percent of the total tourist numbers, with British tourists contributing by 29 percent of those tourists.
