Jordan- Jerusalem is a red line, says Foreign Minister


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh said that occupied Jerusalem which houses Islamic and Christian holy sites is a red line for Jordan.

Judeh made remarks during the Organization of Islamic Conference's contact group emergency meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 70th Regular Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

He said that Jordan will use every diplomatic and legal means to protect Islamic and Christian holy sites based on the Hashemite custodianship over these sanctities, adding that the Kingdom through its membership at the United Nations Security Council will work to make null and void all Israeli measures against al-Aqsa mosque.

Judeh voiced Jordan's full rejection of the Israeli scheme to impose a temporal and spatial division of al-Aqsa mosque.

The meeting touched on exerted efforts to prevent Israeli continued violations of the sanctity of Jerusalem's Al Haram Al Sharif compound.
