Workshop on issuing definition for SMEs in Qatar


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Chamber (QC), in co-operation with Qatar Development Bank (QDB), has conducted a workshop on "Issuing a standard unified definition for small and medium enterprises" in Qatar. Nearly 45 officials from various government entities took part at the workshop, besides prominent academics, specialists in the field and members and officials from both QC and QDB. The workshop was aimed at arriving at a final and conclusive unified definition for SMEs in Qatar, besides suggesting the strategies to adopt such a definition. QC acting general manager Saleh al-Sharqi stressed that the creation of a unified and decisive concepts of SME in Qatar would "reflect positively" on such an important sector of the economy in the country. Further, it would facilitate the establishment of new SMEs and make the process of financing and supporting them more easily accessible. He also praised the role of QDB in supporting many SMEs in the country.
