Jordan- House speaker, Bahrain's PM discuss ties, region


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Lower House Speaker, Atif Tarawneh, on Monday drew attention to burdens created by hosting 1.5 million Syrian refugees and called on the international community to drum up support provided to Jordan to enable it serve the massive influx of Syrian refugees to its territory.

At a meeting in Manama with Bahrain's Prime Minister, Prince Khalifah ibn Sulman al-Khalifah, Tarawneh highlighted Jordan's strategic vision towards regional developments, especially the Palestinian issue and war on terrorism, and their impact on Jordan and countries of the region.

Moreover, he stressed the need to resort to political solutions to bring about peace and stability in the region, and called for further efforts to tackle extremism and terrorism within a comprehensive strategy.

Tarawneh also voiced Jordan's support to Bahrain while affirming that security and stability of both Kingdoms are closely connected.

The Bahraini prime minister hailed Jordan's stance towards his country's issues, stressing that Jordan's positions have always been supportive of all just causes.

He underscored that both Kingdoms have identical views towards different issues, namely Palestinian issue, war on terror, extremism and non interference in the internal affairs of any country.

Both sides also discussed economic cooperation and ways to further boost it at all levels.
