US welcomes the release of its hostages in Yemen

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) US Secretary of State John Kerry is praising the government of Oman for helping secure the release of two Americans held hostage since March in Yemen. One of the two, Scott Darden, 45, is an employee at the New Orleans-based logistics company Transoceanic Development.

Darden and a second American hostage, identified as Sam Farran, were flown from Yemen to neighboring Oman on Sunday, according to U.S. officials. The status of a third U.S hostage, who has not been identified, is unclear.

Darden sought Farran's help to get out of Yemen after the Houthi militias took control of the nation, and the two were captured together, a Transoceanic official told The Washington Post.

Kerry said the United States welcomes the release of Darden and Farran, NOLA.com said.
