Qatar- QSL updates fixtures, all ticket revenue to go to Syrian refugees

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Stars League (QSL) has made changes to its fixtures with the implementation of a double-header system, it was announced yesterday.
The organisers said that the changes in the fixtures will not only allow fans to witness more action, it will also help the national and Olympic teams in their coming endeavours.
Also, the QSL would celebrate the coming of Eid al-Adha with free entry for all the Round 3 matches. He added that for every person attending a match, the QSL would donate 10 Qatari Riyals to the displaced Syrian refugees. Besides, all ticket revenue from Round 4 onward will also be donated to Syrian Refugees in conjunction with Qatar Charity.
The league's organisers made the announcements at a press conference yesterday at Al Bidda Tower.
The press conference was attended by Qatar Football Association's Competition Consultant Hamad al-Mannai, National Team Operations director Ahmed al-Abbassi, QSL Executive Director of Competitions & Football Development Ahmed al-Harmi and QSL Director of Events Hassan al-Kuwari.
"While careful consideration has gone into the decisions we have announced today, it doesn't mean that it will not be amended further if needs be. We will start the implementation of the double-header system this season; this means we will have two matches at one stadium, one straight after the other," al-Mannai said.
"The matches for Round 3 will take place on the 26th and 27th of this month. We have also scheduled some games so as to help our National and Olympic teams as much as possible. So, for example the Al Sadd vs Al Ahli match will take place first during Round 3. This will give players more time to recover and be ready for national matches," he added.
"Round 8 coincides with the preparation camp of the National Team and Round 15 will see the Olympic Team in action. So during these weeks, the clubs should be aware that they will not have as many players to choose from. Also, the postponed game between Lekhwiya and Gharafa will be played on the October 27 after Round 6.
"We have also been careful to consider the prayer times so that we can accommodate this important factor too as our priority is the players and referees."
Al-Kuwari spoke about how the changes to the schedule will allow fans to see more matches with the proposed double header system.
QSL, having become the first professional football league in the world to donate all its ticket revenue to aid the displaced Syrian refugees, has urged fans to attend the match and support your favourite team whilst helping others.
