(MENAFN- Arab Times) Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) sponsored the Al Kharafi Activity Kids Center End of Summer Carnival, which took place earlier this month in West Mishref. The Al Kharafi carnival, was organized in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Embassy of South Africa.
Fawzy Al-Thunayan, ABK's General Manager for Board Affairs represented the Bank at the official opening ceremony where he gave a brief speech on the importance of initiatives such as these. He also emphasized the significance of giving back to society and the value this adds to Kuwait, while simultaneously imbedding ethics within youth and further encouragement to support humanitarian efforts.
The carnival provided a showcase that underlined the importance of humanitarian efforts, highlighting the example set by Kuwait's own humanitarian leader, H.H. Shaikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and his numerous charitable contributions. The event also commemorated the humanitarian efforts of former South African President Nelson Mandela, who passed away in 2013, and who dedicated 67 years of his life to push the boundaries of humanitarian efforts forward. The carnival featured a '67 Minutes of Giving' program in which volunteers spent 67 minutes of their time to follow in the footsteps of these great humanitarian leaders. A large clock was commissioned to mark the time over the 67 minute duration of this special remembrance event.
ABK hosted a booth at the carnival that featured a wide variety of fun activities aimed to amuse children of all ages, such as henna painting, face painting, hair braiding as well as distributing gifts to the kids at the Center.
Mrs Mona Borisli, Vice-President at Al Kharafi Activity Kids Center thanked ABK for its generosity and unwavering commitment to giving back to the community through a large number of CSR initiatives. By Supporting the Al Kharafi Activity Kids Center, ABK is going to help children with disabilities develop, grow and engage among peers in an enjoyable and safe environment. ABK's support ensured another successful event for the Center and guaranteed the participating children an enjoyable time.
The Al Kharafi Activity Kids Center gives children with disabilities new opportunities to learn and play within a nurturing and safe environment, developing their confidence and encouraging them to develop their physical, social, verbal and emotional abilities.
