UAE- Man in dock for forgery failing to pay dues

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)An unemployed man faced charges on Sunday for allegedly misusing another person's driving licence to rent a car and then failing to pay rental dues.

The 27-year-old Omani identified as S.M. has been charged in the Court of First Instance with using official documents belonging to others forging and failing to pay financial dues.

According to prosecution records S.M. used a Comoros Islands' man's Emirates ID and driving licence on April 12 and provided false details in the rental contract. The rental office complained against him after he failed to pay the dues worth Dh14345. A Moroccan employee at the car rental office said S.M. rented the car from April 12 to May 23.

"He submitted an ID and a driving licence of some other person. And he signed on the rental contract". The employee added that the accused later returned the car without paying the dues.

"We tried to call him several times in vain. We filed a complaint at Al Muraqqabat police station based on the personal documents we had been given."

However it became clear later that the person who rented the car was not the same individual as in the documents presented. S.M. admitted to all the charges in the investigation. The court will pronounce a verdict on October 21.
