(MENAFN- Arab Times) LoYAC's AC Milan Academy opened a new football season with a set of enthusiastic young players in the presence of parents, coaching staff, LoYAC boardmembers, and sponsors.

Salman Rashoud , Manager of AC Milan Academy, stated,"I am delighted to express my pleasure at our new cooperation with the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, which will provide us with this year's venues for training in their high quality fields."

He expressed great delight at the journey of many players from tiny tots to kicking around a ball a few years ago to now participating in international tournaments organised by the AC Milan Academy, such as the Peace Cup in Italy.

Rashoud shared that the boys and girls of the Academy, over the past seasons, had won numerous awards, at the local and international level, the last of which was third place in the championship Verona in Italy by the boys and second place to the girls. He stressed that this was a result of the experience of players as well as intensive training. He explained that the Academy aims to develop the skills of both mental and physical aspects of football under the supervision of qualified instructors that have been hired from AC Milan club.

He expressed his thanks to the sponsors of the Academy that include Dow Chemical Company, Kuwait Financial Centre, Al Kout Food Group and the American School in Kuwait.

The AC Milan Academy is world renowned and is one of the leading soccer schools in the region and entrants have a great opportunity to train competently by internationally qualified instructors. The LOYAC AC Milan Academy has completed five years in operation during which it has trained 450 children.

Patrizio Billio, Head Coach, told the Arab Times, "This is my fourth season in Kuwait. Our main target is to provide the kids with training so that we have a competitive team even as the kids have fun. In the last three years, we have improved immensely, but I'm not satisfied. I want us to improve more and become more competitive. Last year we won third place in the Tournament in Italy in the U-16 category and out of the five leagues we participated in, we won three."

"Since I've come here, we have followed a clear methodology in the Academy; we want to build the man as well as the player. We have about 100 kids enrolled so far. As the numbers increase along the weeks, we will increase the numbers of sessions per week. We are deeply concerned about quality so the ratio is strictly 15 kids to one coach", he continued.

The soccer school currently has three full time coaches and another seven who work part time, of which one is a goal keeper coach. Coach Billio revealed that his focus in the coming season will be an increased participation in international tournaments.
