Middle East's answer to One Direction releases first single

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Five young men from across the Arab world are poised to become one of the biggest musical acts of the year.

Arab boy band The 5, formed during MBC music contest The X Factor, are already breaking records with the release of their debut single El Donia Shabab. The group, made up of members Kazem Chamas from Lebanon, Ahmed Hassan from Egypt, Adel Echibi from Morocco, and Algerians Said Karmouz and Mohamed 'BMD' Bouhezza - the band's in-house rapper - recorded the song in Beirut with regional lyricist Nizar Francis and hit-maker producer Michel Fadel. A music video is expected to follow by month's end.

Often compared to fellow boy band One Direction, the band achieved a record high of 50,000 streams on digital music platform Anghami during the first day of their debut release, catapulting them to the top of the charts.

The handsome quintet have had young girls swooning over them since first auditioning individually on the The X Factor earlier this year. Their rising popularity with Arabic-speaking fans will no doubt see them perform their first UAE show in the near future, and you better believe it's going to be a sell-out gig.
