(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Jordan and Bahrain on Sunday held parliamentary talks in the Bahraini capital Manama co-chaired by Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Atef Tarawneh, and his Bahraini counterpart Ahmad Bin Ibrahim Al Muhlla.
The talks focused on Jordanian-Bahraini ties, the latest developments in the region, mainly in Syria, Yemen and Palestine, the war on terrorism and efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
The two sides stressed the importance of boosting parliamentary cooperation between Jordan and Bahrain and voiced their rejection of foreign interference in the internal affairs of any country as well as support to terrorism and violence. Both sides also reviewed ways of forging closer cooperation and coordination to address the challenges facing the region as well as supporting projects and programs that contribute to comprehensive economic developments in the region.
Tarawneh stressed the need to enhance relations between the two countries in various fields.
He also reviewed the burden being shouldered by Jordan due to the current situation in the region and the pressure placed by the Syrian refugees on Jordan in the political, economic, social and security fields.
The speaker said the recent Israeli provocations and violations against the Al Aqsa Mosque will lead to further extremisms and terrorism as well as instability in the region.
Speaker of the Bahraini House of representatives praised the strong historical ties between Jordan and Bahrain and voiced his country's support to Jordna's security and stability. He also valued the contribution made by Jordanian workers in Bahrain to the country's development process.
