Conference To Address State Of Media Music

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Guild of Music Supervisors' inaugural "State of Music in Media" conference will be held this Saturday, Sept. 19, at Emerson College Los Angeles, located in Hollywood. Established in 2010, the young 170-member guild, whose mission statement is to "elevate the creative use of music within all forms of media," initiated the confab to discuss the biz among professional peers.

"Our Conference creates a great opportunity for our guild members, and all of the stakeholders in the media music, to form a powerful think tank," said John Houlihan, president of the Guild of Music Supervisors, in a statement.

The sold-out gathering (450 attendees are expected) will include a conversation with Mike Knobloch, Universal Pictures' president of film music & publishing, moderated by KCRW critic and host of "The Treatment," about multi-platinum soundtracks for "Straight Outta Compton," "50 Shades of Grey," "Furious 7" and "Pitch Perfect 2," among other subjects.

There will also be a discussion with the "Breaking Bad" creative team, including supervisor Thomas Golubic, who is co-chairing the event with Houlihan, on approaching spin-off "Better Call Saul."

In addition, music in games will be discussed in detail with music supervisor Steve Schnur of EA Games (FIFA 16), as will music in advertising, featuring JT Griffith, head of music for Nike.
