UAE- Israel needs to be held accountable over detentions: paper

ABU DHABI 20th September 2015 (WAM) -- When will the international community ever hold Israel to account for its disgraceful degrading and disgusting treatment of Palestinians? Take the case of Mohammad Allan a Palestinian man whose detention last month was suspended because of failing health as a result of his hunger strike against his illegal incarceration without charges or trial commented a UAE daily.

"On Wednesday Israeli security forces arrested the 31-year-old as he visited a medical centre in southern Israel" said the English language daily Gulf Today in an editorial on Sunday.

Now he's back behind bars and again has no idea when of if he'll ever be released or when or if he'll ever be charged with any crime. He had been held since November 2014 and the order was renewed in May.

Allan is not alone. At any given time thousands of Palestinians are held illegally under these detention orders. Imagine the outcry if such punitive treatment and jailing were imposed on Israelis? "That however would never be the case as there is one rule for Jews another for Arabs. And for those who try and seek justice there is but imprisonment without any due process" concluded the Dubai-based daily.
