Qatar- Stars of Science Season 7 premieres on MBC4 today

DOHA: Some of the region’s brightest minds are set to showcase their inventions to be crowned the best Arab innovator at the Stars of Science Season 7 which premieres today on MBC4.

The first four episodes of the edutainment reality television program takes the jurors across the region in a casting tour in search for the best and brightest young innovators.

They scour Qatar Tunisia Saudi Arabia Egypt the UAE and Lebanon to look for 12 aspiring innovators who will pit against each other during a thrilling six-week competition at the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) in Education City.

They are challenged to develop their project ideas while focusing on critical stages of the innovation cycle from engineering to design. Viewers witness a jury composed of influential entrepreneurs designers and tech experts eliminate candidates and their products until only four remain.

The four finalists who survive the elimination rounds earn a share of the $600000 prize with the winner being determined in a special live final episode through a jury deliberation and public voting.

“Tens of thousands of young innovators have applied to take part in Stars of Science throughout the program’s seven-year history” said Youssif Abdulrahman Saleh long-time juror and General Manager of Qatar Shell Research and Technology Centre at QSTP.

“This year’s applicants possess an abundance of talent and unique life experience as well as impressive academic credentials. It will truly be a daunting challenge to narrow the field to only 12 candidates.”

The unique programme initiated by Qatar Foundation for Education Science and Community Development (QF) have so far witnessed 92 candidates who have filed 76 patents and founded 17 companies. Some of the successful inventions which are already out in the market were displayed during yesterday’s press conference held at the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies.

The show has attained popularity with its Facebook page achieving more than two million likes and over 50000 followers on its Twitter YouTube and Instagram channels combined.

Hosted by Khaled Al Jumaily Season 7 will premiere on Friday at 7pm KSA/ 4pm GMT on MBC4. The show will start airing its daily episodes on October 10 4pm KSA/1pm GMT on MBC4.
