UAE- Valdivia is fined and banned for two matches

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)Chilean playmaker Jorge Valdivia will miss Al Wahda's next two Arabian Gulf League fixtures after copping a two-game ban for a rude gesture. A Dh15000 fine was also slapped on the player by the UAE Football Association and the Pro-League Committee which run the League.

The former Al Ain midfielder who made his Al Wahda debut against Al Shabab in the League on Sunday night made a 'finger' gesture during half-time. The video went viral on social media platforms forcing the player and club to issue a clarification.

But the UAE Football Association (UAEFA) have not taken lightly to the gesture with the Disciplinary Committee banning him for two League games.

It means that the Copa America hero will miss two of the biggest games at the start of the season. He will miss the Capital Derby against Al Jazira at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on Friday night as well as the home derby against defending champions Al Ain at the Al Nahyan Stadium on September 25.
