U.S. HP expects up to 30,000 layoffs soon

(MENAFN) Hewlett-Packard, the American top tech company, announced an expected 30,000 job losses due to an approaching corporate split.

The U.S. based firm has been undergoing a massive restructuring to cope with the move away from traditional personal computers to mobile devices.

Eventually, the losses will come as the world's second-largest PC maker splits into a unit focused on personal computers and printers, and the other on software services.

Furthermore, the newly shaped corporation will seek some USD2 billion in annual cost reductions, let alone USD700 million in savings associated to the spin-off.
