German defence minister sets up command centre for cyber warfare


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Berlin Dhu-AlHijjah 03 1436 September 17 2015 SPA -- The German army is to set up a command centre to
coordinate the 15000 military and civilian personnel currently
employed by the military in an IT capacity Defence Minister Ursula
von der Leyen announced Thursday dpa reported.

"The foundations for increased professionalization of the armed
forces in the cyber and information area must be laid and the
digitalization of the German military pushed forward" Von der Leyen
said in a standing order.

To date the Interior Ministry has been primarily responsible for
countering attacks by hackers who mount between 2500 and 6500
attacks a day on government computers.

More than 4000 instances of malware of various kinds were found in
the first six months of this year.
