PKK terrorist killed in eastern Turkey


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A member of the terrorist PKK organization was killed and another was injured in alleged gunfights in eastern Van province Wednesday the regional governor’s office said in a statement.

The gunfights occurred in two different streets of Ipekyolu town where a group of PKK terrorists set up blockades and opened fire on security forces the statement said adding that the terrorists used makeshift explosives and long-barreled weapons in the attacks.

"According to the intelligence gathered around 15 men with long-barreled weapons and two terrorists with rocket launchers were involved in the attacks as confirmed by a helicopter flying over the area" the statement said.

The resulting exchange of fire left a PKK terrorist dead and another wounded.

Following a suicide bomb attack in July -- blamed on Daesh -- in the southeastern province of Sanliurfa that killed over 30 people PKK terrorist organization has renewed its armed campaign against Turkish forces.

The renewed violence has threatened the ‘solution process’ officially initiated in early 2013 aimed at ending the 30-year conflict between the PKK and the Turkish state.

Since July more than 100 members of the security forces have been martyred and hundreds of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq including airstrikes.
