DUBAI 16th September 2015 (WAM) -- The second annual educational seminar to empower high-profile UAE residents to host international conferences in Dubai took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre DWTC today. Hosted by Dubai Business Events the official convention bureau a division of Dubai Tourism the event was held to boost membership of the Al Safeer Congress Ambassadors Programme and educate potential ambassadors on how to bid for and organise international conferences. It also highlighted the assistance and support available from government agencies and private industry to bring global events to Dubai.

The programme which currently boasts around 300 prominent members who represent more than 100 global entities from a variety of fields ranging from academia to engineering and medicine is looking to expand its ranks and better position the emirate not only as a leading business events destination but also as a vibrant and innovative knowledge hub. By growing ambassador numbers and working with them on a continual basis to bring global conferences to the city the programme enhances Dubai's international standing by getting leading international associations to debate the latest developments in their respective fields.

To date the Al Safeer programme has resulted in dozens of international conferences coming to Dubai bringing along with them thousands of delegates all of which have had a positive impact on Dubai's economy.

Commenting on the event Hamad Bin Mejren Senior Vice President at DTCM's Dubai Events and Convention Bureau said "The Al Safeer programme motivates local Dubai-based doctors scientists professors teachers government officials and business people who are in some way connected internationally with organisations and associations to work with us and get the congresses organised by their respective organisations to be hosted in Dubai. We set up the Al Safeer programme around five years ago and the initiative has proven very successful. However we are very keen to continue appointing new ambassadors who can help us branch out into new fields and areas of expertise globally and to educate ambassadors on how to bid for such international events."
