Qatar- Statutory warning on several products made mandatory

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The recent directives of the Supreme Council of Health regarding packaging and labelling have made it mandatory for several products, including energy drinks, to display the statutory warnings or messages in big letters.

The energy drink, Red Bull, has been out of stock in the market for several days on this account. It is reliably learnt that the product has to adhere to the new labelling specifications and will be available by the beginning of next month.

A Quality Group official who deals directly with the Red Bull supply for the entire group said: "The company has informed us that it has to follow the new directives from the Supreme Council of Health. The statutory warning on the can of the drink has to be written larger than how it appears presently. Therefore the company has not released any stock with the old labelling.

"There was no order from the officials to withdraw the product from the market. The company has informed us that the new batch of the product that will most probably be shipped in by October first, will have the larger statutory message," he added.

Operators of various hypermarkets and supermarkets said that the product has been out of stock for many days. "Many are asking for Red Bull, but we do not have any stock. Other energy drinks are available as usual," said a supervisor at Safari Mall.
