India- Jammu MSMEs flay power department for unscheduled power cuts

(MENAFN- KNN India) Jammu industries strongly flayed the Power Development Department (PDD) for the deteriorating power supply position in SIDCO Industrial Complex.

An urgent meeting of the Members of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association was held today under the Chairmanship of Lalit Kumar Mahajan, President BBIA to discuss the deteriorating power supply position in SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, Jammu from last three weeks.

"Nobody is accountable for repeated power failures between 1 PM to 3 PM every day in the Industrial Area for the power supply being fed through 50X2 MW Grid Station. The situation of power supply through BB-I Receiving Station is also grim as the power supply remained snapped without any intimation to the unit holders resulting massive production and financial losses to the Unit Holders," the association said in a release.

The matter has been taken up number of times with the concerned Officials of the Power Development Department (PDD) to know about the reasons for the unscheduled power cuts in the day time.

"In spite of our repeated requests and reminders to the concerned Chief Engineer's no one is taking interest to resolve the issue which show the casual attitude of Power Development Department towards the industrial units. The Department is not taking this issue seriously due to which the Industrialists are facing huge financial losses, production loss and machinery breakdown," said the association.

"Industries located in Bari Brahmana are contributing approximately Rs 140 crores towards the cost of power supplied to industrial area which is around 8 to 10 per cent of the total revenue collection of the PDD but the Department is not serious about the Maintenance of the Grid stations of the Complex due to which the industrial units are suffering very badly," it added.

BBIA has appealed Nirmal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister & Minister for PDD and Chander Parkash, ndustries & Commerce Minister to intervene into this matter and issue necessary orders to stop the unscheduled power cuts in the industrial areas.
