Qatar- QU college, QHIC sign deal to promote research


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Centre of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Qatar University College of Arts and Sciences (QU-CAS) and Qatar Heritage and Identity Centre (QHIC) have entered into an agreement to promote mutual research and cultural activities.
The agreement was signed by CAS dean Dr Eiman Mustafawi and QHIC director Dr Khaled Yousef al-Mulla in the presence of QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham, CHSS director Dr Kaltham al-Ghanim, CAS associate dean for research and graduate affairs Dr Mohamed Ahmedna, and associate dean for academic affairs Dr Hassan Abdulaziz.
The agreement will benefit QU undergraduate and graduate students and enhance the capacity of both CHSS and QHIC in the field of research and cultural activities through joint forums aimed at stimulating academic research in the field of culture, arts and heritage.
It comes in line with CAS' efforts to achieve an integrated system of co-operation with local, regional and international organisations to support QU's strategy in contributing to the realisation of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Dr al-Ghanim explained that the agreement represents one of the distinctive steps of Qatar University's co-operation with community organisations in promoting the revitalisation of the cultural sector and preservation of heritage and identity, which is one of the pillars of Qatar Vision 2030 and outlined in the national development strategies.
"CHSS will benefit considerably from this collaborative effort with DHIC as it continues to develop as a key partner in the field of culture, identity and heritage in Qatar."
Dr al-Mulla said the agreement will strengthen the capacity of the QHIC in the field of research and cultural activities. "We already have co-operation, co-ordination and understanding with a lot of schools, universities and educational institutions; but Qatar University has a unique status. It is the national university and we appreciate its vital role in Qatari society."
QHIC's public relations and communications director Anas Qasim al-Anzi, human resources director Bader al-Mulla, information officer Ali Hussein and activities supervisor Hana al-Husseini were also present at the agreement signing.
