SUPC and Etisalat conclude MoU to develop joint collaboration

SHARJAH 14th September 2015 (WAM) -- Sharjah Urban Planning Council SUPC has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding MoU with Emirates Telecommunications Corporation Etisalat aiming to promote joint collaboration between the two parties and to conduct relevant studies that will develop better understanding of current and future work requirements.

The agreement was signed at the SUPC office by Sheikh Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Chairman of Sharjah Urban Planning Council and Abdul Aziz Hamad Taryam Etisalat's CEO Advisor and General Manager-Northern Emirates in the presence of Khalid Mohammed Al Ali Secretary General of SUPC and Abdullatif Al Abbasi Etisalat's Senior Director Strategy and Projects Management.

Speaking on the occasion Sheikh Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi said "Upgrading the services provided by SUPC requires innovative IT and telecommunication solutions as well as a sustainable support that rests on up-to-date IT infrastructure. This is especially relevant as SUPC attaches great significance to the provision of the latest innovative solutions designed to better organise the flow of work and enforce original plans and programmes that will ultimately improve the infrastructure in Sharjah. Etisalat was selected to conclude the joint collaboration agreement on account of being the primary specialised corporation eligible to provide supporting services following world quality standards that save time and effort and efficiently handle technical issues."

Elaborating on the significance of the agreement for the residents of Sharjah the Chairman of SUPC said "Planning for integrated projects that set up attractive urban environments developing infrastructure projects and elevating the living standard of the current and future generations of Sharjah have always been the eminent goals of SUPC. In doing so we promise a brighter future and provide prosperity for both the citizens and visitors of Sharjah."

By virtue of this agreement both organisations will form joint taskforces assigned to apply the terms of the agreement while abiding with the partnership arrangements. The same taskforces will also be responsible for drafting the roadmap required to provide IT and telecommunication solutions in accordance with the best world practices that meet business requirements.

Abdul Aziz Taryam CEO Advisor and General Manager of Etisalat-Northern Emirates commented "We are pleased to collaborate with SUPC as we conclude this strategic partnership agreement. SUPC is currently engaged in designing short-term plans to evaluate its ongoing projects constructed to meet the development needs of Sharjah. In collaboration with the world's most experienced organisations SUPC is also designing integrated mid to long-term future strategies covering social economic and environmental areas aiming to achieve efficient provision of urban sustainable development while providing quality services.
