Taliban Free Hundreds of Prisoners in Ghazni Jail Attack


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Taliban militants armed with heavy and light weapon have freed hundreds of inmates in attack on central jail in Ghazni province of Afghanistan.

Reports from the area suggest that suicide bombers were also used in the attack carried out after 12:00 am on Monday. Residents of Ghazni city, the provincial capital where the attack took place, say they heard huge explosions during the attack.

Security forces and Taliban have suffered casualties during the attack but a specific number is not released yet, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press). Unconfirmed reports suggest that at least 300 inmates have been released from the prison. Taliban spokesman has claimed responsibility for the attack saying that all of the prisoners were released.
