Gargash chairs Arab Foreign Ministers special session on Syria

CAIRO 14th September 2015 (WAM) -- Arab Foreign Ministers have held a special closed-door session on the situation in Syria under the Chairmanship of Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash Minister of State for Foreign Affairs with the participation of the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura and in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Arab League Dr. Nabil Al-Araby on the sidelines of the 144th meetings of the League Council which was held at the headquarters of the League in Cairo.

The UN Special Envoy for Syria briefed the ministers on a report on his efforts with Syrian parties in order to reach a political solution for the crisis including the working groups proposed by him to deal with the military security political reconstruction and development issues in Syria.

Dr. Nabil Al-Araby emphasised the importance of a joint plan of action with the United Nations to address the Syrian crisis adding that the bloodshed and destruction in Syria is continuing and the Syrian people continue to suffer more tragedies as a result of the ongoing crisis.

Al- Araby said that the complexities of the situation require an effective Arab vision capable of dealing with the various dimensions it presents in consultation and coordination with various regional and international concerned parties.
