Meeting of GCC prosecutors begins


(MENAFN- The Peninsula)The 8th meeting of GCC Assistants of Public Prosecutors Attorneys-General and Heads of Public Investigation Bodies and the Public Prosecution began at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski at the Pearl-Qatar yesterday.

Doha: The 8th meeting of GCC Assistants of Public Prosecutors Attorneys-General and Heads of Public Investigation Bodies and the Public Prosecution began here yesterday.

The meeting which was held at Marsa Malaz Kempinski at the Pearl-Qatar discussed a set of topics including the unified regulation to inspect the work of GCC’s prosecutors and investigative bodies. It also discussed rules for child protection during the stage of investigation mechanisms for implementing rules of cooperation as well as implementation of arrest and appearance warrants at the level of the GCC member states among other subjects.

Names of winners of Award for Excellence for members of the GCC public prosecutions and investigation bodies will be adopted during the meeting. The checking of recommendations of the meetings of technical committees held during the current year will also take place.

At the outset of the meeting Ibrahim Abdulla Saeed Abdulla Al Qubaisi Qatar’s Prime Solicitor General pointed to the efforts made by Public Prosecution departments in the GCC.

Al Qubaisi also made a reference to the speech of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani before the GCC summit in Doha when the Emir said that it is only practice that will turn the GCC into an entity and move it towards the goal of being an active Arab organisation in the regional and international arena.
