UAE- Bid to loot money exchange foiled in Ajman

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)Three people who tried to steal Dh800000 from a money exchange centre in the industrial area of Ajman were arrested on Sunday.

The robbery attempt of the three Asians were caught live on the cameras at the operation room of the Ajman Police Department. Colonel Abdulla Saif Al Matroushi Director of Criminal Investigation Department at Ajman Police said that the suspects had set up a well-laid out plan to carry out the looting.

He said the robbers entered the exchange after breaking into a neighbouring outlet which was under maintenance work.

They made an opening in the shared wall of the outlet and exchange to reach the locker and stole Dh800.000. But the exchange's early detection alarm system linked to the Ajman Police operation room helped the officers watch the crime live and send nearest patrol team to the site.

A CID team made the arrest outside the exchange when the gang members came out with Dh800000 in their possession.

Col. Al Matroushi told Khaleejtimes that the crime was averted because of a quick action from officers and advanced technology.

He urged all companies to link their business premises with operation room to ensure safety and prevent crimes.

It is mandatory for business organisations that deal with money to have their alarm system connected with the police operation room in Ajman.
