Egypt's oil minister to form new government

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi Saturday asked Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Sharif Ismail to form a new government within one week after the resignation of the cabinet of Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb.

Sisi had earlier accepted the resignation of Mehleb's cabinet, but the ministers will continue to serve in a caretaker role until the new government takes office.

The resignation comes as Egypt is preparing to hold legislative elections in two phases between October 17 and December 2.
