(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Ambassador Renato O. Villa Championship Cup organised by the Filipino Badminton Committee in Kuwait (FBC) came to a close on Friday with the awarding ceremony held at the Kuwait Disabled Sports Club with the Philippine Ambassador Villa as guest of honour.
The event kicked off with the singing of the Kuwait and Philippine national anthems followed by the dance presentation of Jhelsie and Mark Carandang.
Villa along with FBC President Regine Panesal and Philippine Society of Marketing Specialists in Kuwait President Nelson Fernandez handed to the winners trophies and gift vouchers courtesy of Dairy Queen.
The winners in the AM Novice Level were Raymond Dela Cruz and Marc Carandang (Champions), Russel Centeno and Shielyn Hassan (First runners-up), Erick Torno and Regine Panesal (Second runners-up).
In the AM Beginner Lower Level, Farida Usman and Aj bagged the top spot followed by Alma Dulce Aninon and Erma Carandang as first runners-up while Verginia Obpon and Kristine Ann Mercado placed second runners-up.
In the AM Beginner Higher Level, Irshad and Sameer emerged as champions while Marge Velasco and Vernz Juachon ended first runners-up and Shielyn Hassan and Ninno Mutia ranked second runners-up.
FBC handed a ceremonial cheque to OWWA Kuwait Representative Dr Zara Antonio for the OWWA Tuloy-Aral Scholarship Program in the presence of Villa.
Ambassador Villa congratulated all the winners and thanked FBC for organising the tournament in his honour and for donating to the OWWA Tuloy-Aral Scholarship Program. He also gave a box of Se?orita Bananas from the Philippines to all the FBC members.
Meanwhile, FBC thanked Villa for his utmost support and expressed its sincerest gratitude to Dairy Queen, Burger & Karak and the Philippine Society of Marketing Specialists in Kuwait for sponsoring the event.
