Kuwait- Manpower Authority Approves Unified Work Contract


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Public Authority for Manpower has approved the proposed unified work contract which includes the most important rights and duties of the employees and the employers as per the stipulations of the labor law, says acting Director of the authority Abdullah Al- Motawtih.

In a press statement, Al-Motawtih disclosed the unified contract, which will take effect soon, is aimed at protecting the rights of both the employees and employers; affirming it is on top of the priorities of Social Affairs and Labor Minister Hind Al- Subaih in terms of implementing fundamental reforms. Meanwhile, Director of Legal Affairs Department in the authority Dr Mubarak Al-Jafour said a survey was conducted to know the viewpoints of the concerned authorities on the proposal, such as Kuwait Chamber for Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Kuwait Trade Union Federation (KTUF), Banks Union, and Youth Committee at the authority.

He added all the respondents have agreed on the implementation of the proposal. He clarified the unified contract is one way of addressing labor disputes; indicating the authority will seek the opinion of the Fatwa and Legislation Department regarding the proposal, as well as the embassies of countries which send laborers to Kuwait in a bid to generalize the contract in a language suitable for each embassy.
