Kuwait- MoI Transfers Top Official Over Alleged Links To '@Kibret1' Owner

(MENAFN- Arab Times) An order has been issued to transfer the Assistant Undersecretary for Border Security Affairs Major General Anwar Al-Yasin to the ministry's diwan due to his alleged relations with the owner of the controversial Twitter account '@kibret1', reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Hours after the issuance of this transfer order, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Al- Hamad Al-Sabah warned, "Everyone will be under scrutiny. If anyone is proven to have misused their work positions, I will personally hold them accountable irrespective of their ranks". In the same context, an official security source revealed that Major General Al-Yasin is being transferred with the aim of his eventual dismissal from the post following the issuance of a decree because his appointment was based on a ministerial decree.

The source said, "During Major General Al-Yasin's tenure, there were several security lapses in the border security including the exit of outlaws and wanted individuals as well as holders of fake passports. An official report had earlier mentioned that the performance of the border security agencies is weak". He revealed that doubts were raised when Major General Al-Yasin was seen inside the house of the owner of Twitter account '@kibret1' at the time of the latter's arrest.

Meanwhile, Public Prosecution has extended the detention of the lawyer/journalist/owner of the controversial Twitter account @kibret1 for another ten days, as he has been referred to the Central Prison. Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazin Al-Jarrah Thursday issued a circular to all immigration departments and citizen service centers to stop issuance of governmental work permits for any job without his approval and signature, particularly for the job of 'consultant' which depletes the budgets of the governmental sectors more than any other jobs, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that the decision is aimed to preserve governmental expenditures and control the unemployment rate among citizens. The decision obliges all representatives of ministries to visit the office of Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazin Al- Jarrah to obtain his personal approval on the governmental work permit after ensuring the need of the government authority for that job. His approval is also required for extending the period of governmental visits.
