Oman- Five additional flights to Pakistan to meet Eid rush


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced that it will operate five extra flights to various destinations in Pakistani between September 20 and 23 to meet the Eid rush. 

During this period the airline will operate two additional flights to Sialkot and one additional flight each to Karachi Lahore and Islamabad according to Shazad Paracha country manager for PIA Oman.

'PIA has been operating additional flights during such occasions. People prefer celebrating Eid with family and hence to cater to the rush we will have additional flights' he told Muscat Daily.

Paracha said that Eid al Adha is the busiest season as most residents reserve their annual leave this time. 'Also many people who can afford the expense travel to Pakistan for Eid to be with their families.'

He added that daily connecting flights from major destinations to smaller cities in Pakistan are available. 'This would mean we will be adding almost 1000 extra seats (between September 20 and 23).'

He added 'PIA is reviving and our flights are on time now. In addition people who book from Pakistan can avail 20 per cent off on routes to Europe US UAE and Fareast Asia from October 1 onwards till November 30.'

According to a PIA newsletter there has been an eight per cent increase in passenger revenue and a 72 per cent increase in seats.

'Our financial position has improved from what it was previously. In 2014 we saw a reduction of 34.4 per cent in our losses' Paracha said.

The manager said that with addition of A-320 aircraft to its fleet PIA is now in a better position to cater to passengers. It also plans to induct ten narrow bodies A-320 aircraft and five ATR-72 aircraft in this year besides three  Boeing 777s.  All these have been obtained on dry lease.
