Oman- Authorities in Dakhliyah destroy 1,484kg meat, order 63 shops closed


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Directorate General of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources in Dakhliyah governorate has destroyed 1484kg of meat found unsuitable for human consumption and ordered closure of 63 shops for violations during the first half of this year.

Inspection teams also issued 373 trade related warnings and   1083 warnings for unhygienic practices at shops selling food items.

In its bid to maintain consumer safety the directorate general carried out surprise checks of shops and food factories in the governorate. During the first six months of the year 236 shops were checked.

During this period authorities also issued 45 licences for animal husbandry poultry farms and stalls selling fish or meat. 

The directorate general also organised campaigns to create awareness on food safety.
