UAE- Expansion of sewage stations at Warsan

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)The Dubai Municipality's Drainage and Irrigation department has started expansion works of sewage stations at Warsan neighbourhood said engineer Talib Abdul Kareem Julfar director of the department.

The move is undertaken to increase the capacity of the station from 260000 cubic metres of drainage water per day to 325000 cubic metres. It will also help purify the sewage extract fertilizer and utilise it in agriculture.

Julfar said the municipality has invited contractors to bid for a tender on expanding the sewage plant in Jebel Ali also with the aim of raising its capacity to 375000 cubic meters every day.

He said the expansions are designed to achieve two main objectives - absorb the excessive flow of sewage resulting from developments in expo areas and convert some load from the Warsan sewage plant to the Jebel Ali one.

The demand for treated water will rise in future. "It is known that treated water is used for watering the green areas in the emirate but this is only one out of 23 other benefits" said Julfar.
