'We operate three direct flights to Mumbai Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram in India and the base fares for these destinations are RO1 RO4 and RO3 respectively' a Jet Airways official told Muscat Daily.

He further said that with taxes the one-way fare to Mumbai comes to RO35 RO43 for Kochi and RO42 to Thiruvananthapuram. 'The return base fare for Mumbai is RO7 RO28 for Kochi and RO30 for Thiruvananthapuram (excluding taxes)' he said. The base fare remains low for destinations like Lucknow Chennai Delhi Mangalore too where Jet Airways flies via Mumbai.

'They are RO10 RO5 RO14 and RO10 respectively' he said adding the one-way fares to these places with taxes come to RO55 RO50 RO63 and RO55.

Return fares for these destinations inclusive of taxes are RO124 RO101 RO104 and RO141 respectively. The official added that the promotion also includes tickets to Dhaka in Bangladesh and Kathmandu in Nepal. 'The one-way base fare for both Dhaka and Kathmandu is RO8 and the total for one-way journey to both these places costs RO61' he said.

There is however a slight difference in the return base fare - RO31 for Dhaka and RO10 for Kathmandu.

Oman Air is also offering similar rates. 'The base fares start at RO1 with additional taxes depending on the destination' said a tour operator.

Oman Air's one-way base fare to Mumbai is RO1 with RO38 as tax taking the total ticket cost to RO39. 'For return the base fare is RO7 and with taxes is RO85' he said.

Listing base fares for other destinations he said 'One way to Kochi is RO5 RO15 for Thiruvananthapuram RO25 for Lucknow RO15 for Chennai and RO25 for Delhi. 'The return fare is RO53 for Kochi RO58 for Thiruvananthapuram RO50 for Lucknow RO30 for Chennai and RO50 for Delhi.'

To avail the slashed fares on Jet Airways the airline has said that tickets should be booked by September 15. The deadline for Oman Air tickets is September 30.
