Dunelm reports sales and profit hike


(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors)Dunelm (LON:DNLM) shone brightly as the homewares retailer reported higher yearly profit and sales thanks largely to a boost in curtain sales. The roll-out of its Dunelm at Home service reinforced its strength as a curtains retailer with made-to-measure curtains one of its fastest-growing departments the company said. Bed linen and furniture also proved popular with shoppers. In the 53 weeks to 4 July sales rose 12% to £835mln while pre-tax profit was almost 5% higher to £122.6mln the slower improvement in profits reflected investment in its online offering. Will Adderly chief executive said: 'Customers continue to respond well to our specialist homewares offer and we have made strong progress in all elements of our growth strategy - achieving good like-for-like sales opening 12 superstores and significantly increasing revenues from our home delivery offer.' The increased expenditure on the online and delivery service helped home delivery sales jump 55% to account for 6% of total sales. Shares slipped 1.3% to 892p today.
