Doha Hosts GCC Petroleum Cooperation Committee Thursday


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha will host Thursday the 34th session of GCC petroleum cooperation committee at the ministerial level, which was preceded today by a preparatory meeting for undersecretaries of GCC oil ministries.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's meeting, HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada said the meeting comes in consolidation of the mechanism of regular consultation among GCC states, expressing delight to meet GCC ministers of oil in their second home of Qatar.

HE the minister said the agenda of the meeting includes several important issues that will help in developing joint GCC action. The ministers are set to discuss enhancing GCC, regional and international cooperation in a set of issues, notably the outcome of the work of GCC energy affairs team at the World Trade Organization and free trade agreements. The meeting will also review the results and recommendations of the meeting of mineral wealth committee.

The ministers will also examine the latest developments in efforts to address climate change as well as the GCC petroleum strategy besides other issues of GCC mutual concern such as sustainability and diversification of energy sources.
